About Us

STARS Education (formerly SPELD Wanganui) was started due to a need for parents needing assistance with children who were encountering difficulties at school.  Students who found their needs were not being met in the conventional school environment and were struggling with learning due to underlying learning issues.

At STARS Education Whanganui our teachers are all qualified, experienced classroom teachers, who have additional qualifications in the field of Specific Learning Disabilities. Additionally, our teachers participate in regular professional development workshops, seminars and conferences.  Teachers and assessors are all police checked at regular intervals.

As an organisation working with children, we take safety seriously and are required to have a policy in place on Child Abuse, Neglect, and Safety.
